Three Peace region drivers in top five for sales at Calgary Stampede canvas auction

Kris Molle and Kurt Bensmiller at $170,000 each topped the bidding at last night’s Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Chuckwagon Canvas Tarp Auction.

Next came Cody Ridsdale at $140,000, Chanse Vigen at $130,000, and Mark Sutherland at $125,000.

The tarp on Mitch Sutherland’s wagon sold for $90,000 and Kirk Sutherland’s went for $85,000.

The 27 tarps in the auction sold for a combined $2,750,000; a $645,000 increase over last year.

This year’s Calgary Stampede will run from July 7 to 16.
