Grande Prairie man arrested trying to sell stolen firearm

RCMP in Grande Prairie has arrested a man following a complaint of a suspicious sale of a firearm.

On Monday, April 24, just before 9:00 a.m., Mounties received a report of a man trying to sell a firearm for well below market value in the area of Grande Prairie.

Checks on the firearm found it was stolen out of the City on April 7.

After investigation, 39-year-old Brandon Neil of Grande Prairie has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of firearms for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a weapon obtained by the commission of an offense
  • Possession of stolen property under $5000
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Weapons trafficking

Neil was remanded in custody following a release hearing and is to be in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on April 26.

Police would like to thank the public for their assistance on the matter and no more details will be released surrounding the incident as it is now before the courts.
