County seeking final input on Windsor Area Structure Plan

Apr 26, 2023 | 12:35 PM

The County of Grande Prairie is seeking final community input regarding a development plan for southwest Clairmont.

This plan was designed to guide future development on 388 hectares of land from Highway 43 south to the City of Grande Prairie boundary, between Range Roads 62 and 63. (108 & 116 Street)

The plan has allocated most of the 388 hectares for residential but does include several proposed school sites and proposed commercial development, which would run along the outside of the planned area.

According to Planning Manager Reed Deroches, this plan has been in the works for a few years.

“The plan was developed and refined based on engagement with residents, local developers, and other groups that took place pre-pandemic.” Deroches said in the release, “Anyone who is interested to learn more about future development guidelines for the area and provide that final input is encouraged to attend.”

The open house is set to take place, Wednesday, May 10 at the Whispering Ridge Community School from 5 to 7 p.m.

These open houses will mark the end of the second phase of this project with the third and final phase involving finalizing the plan and presenting it to council for a public hearing and final decision.
