Out of control fires in the Peace River Forest Area
The Peace River Forest Area says it has some out of control wildfires, two of which have burned into the area from neighbouring forest areas.
One that started near Fourth Creek in Saddle Hills County has now burned over 10,500 hectares, mostly in Clear Hills County north of the Peace River. It is located five kilometres east of Cleardale and 22 kilometres southwest of Worsley. Fire watchers say fire activity is down but there is a lot of smoke in the Peace River Valley. Dozer crews are working to build fire breaks.
Another fire that started in the Slave Lake Forest Area has burned over 23,700 hectares. Crews are working on structural protection and fireguards.
There is another out of control fire located 17 kilometres northeast of Three Creek/s It is over 6200 hectares. Precipitation in that area has slowed it down.
