PWPSD appoints two new assistant principals

Two new assistant principals have been named by the Peace Wapiti Public School Division for Sexsmith Secondary and Harry Balfour School, Mrs. Marayanne Buck, and Ms. Brooke Prince.

Mrs Marayanne Buck will take up the position at Harry Balfour, saying in a release, “I know Harry Balfour School has a well-established school culture and excellent community, and am looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and getting to know the Harry Balfour families.”

Mrs. Buck has worked with PWPSD since 2016 and has taken up various roles at Penson and Whispering Ridge Community School, currently serving as the assistant principal.

Ms. Brooke Prince, who will be taking up the assistant principal role at Sexsmith Secondary, is no stranger to PWPSD, attending the division her entire grade school experience (Grades 1-12), then beginning as a teacher in 2007 at the Peace Wapiti Academy and Penson School.

Ms. Prince said in a release, ” I have had the opportunity to collaborate with, or have worked with, several of the Sexsmith Secondary teachers, and am excited to be part of their learning community.”

She added, due to her experience growing up in small towns and attending rural schools, she loves to be a part of a school where everyone knows each other’s names.

Mrs. Buck and Ms. Prince will begin their new roles starting in the fall of the new school year.
