Day 2 results from Grande Prairie Stompede WPCA races

Thursday night was a warm 20 degrees in Grande Prairie at Evergreen Park for the chuckwagons.

The day money winner on night two of the Grande Prairie Stompede was Chanse Vigen, running penalty free with a time of 1:16.14 driving the Sundown Oilfield Services Ltd. outfit.

The top five included reigning World Champion Layne MacGillivary in second, Manning’s Todd McCracken third, Chad Fike fourth, and Logan Gorst fifth.

After two runs, Obrey Motowylo still sits first atop the aggregate with a two day combined time of 2:37.35.

Former Peace country driver Chanse Vigen sits in fifth place in the aggregate heading into day three of racing in Grande Prairie, just 24 hundredths of a second outside the top four.

The top four drivers in the aggregate after Saturday’s final race will be in contention to race in the championship final heat on Sunday to win the big winner’s cheque and winners bragging rights as the Grande Prairie Stompede 2023 Champion.

The Ralph Vigen Memorial Award will be given to the wagon driver atop the aggregate following the races on Saturday, along with the use of a brand new GMC pickup truck courtesy of Summit Fleet and the GP Stompede.

Evening races begin at 5:00 p.m. at Evergreen Park.
