Boil water advisory lifted for Peavine Metis Settlement

UPDATE:

The water quality level in Peavine Metis Settlement has been restored and confirmed as satisfactory by AHS.

Boiling is no longer required, but residents and businesses should flush their water lines before consumption.

Any community members with health concerns can contact Health Link at 811, to speak with a registered nurse, 24 hours a day.

Alberta Health Services issued a boil water advisory for the Peavine Metis Settlement, due to de-pressurization of the water distribution system.

Businesses and residents are being advised to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before consuming, brushing teeth, cleaning raw foods, preparing infant formula or juices, and making ice.

Bottled water can also be purchased and used for the duration of the advisory.

For anyone using water to bathe or wash clothes, a pre-boil is not required. Anyone washing their hands should make sure to use soap and alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

This advisory does remain in effect until further notice. Alberta Health Services will monitor the ongoing situation, only lifting the advisory when the safety of the water system can be assured.
