Alberta welcoming help from South Africa firefighters

Over 200 South African Firefighters are expected to arrive at the Edmonton International Airport this morning, (Thursday, June 15) to join the fight against a historic wildfire season in Alberta.

Forestry and Parks Minister Todd Lowen plans on welcoming the crew to our province, unless the flights are significantly delayed.

These firefighters will then be spread across the province and join numerous other jurisdictions already helping Albertans fight these blazes.

It is expected the South African Firefighters will greet Lowen and other fellow Canadian’s with a traditional celebration.
