Provincial fuel tax suspended until the end of 2023
The provincial government announced Monday morning that they are fulfilling one of their campaign commitments of keeping life affordable for Albertans, by suspending the provincial fuel tax that was set to expire at the end of June.
The full 13 cents per litre will not be collected by the province for the rest of 2023. Smith says it will save people $6-$18 every time they fill up their vehicle.
“Pausing the full fuel tax on gasoline and diesel for the rest of the calendar year will put hundreds of millions of dollars back into the pockets of Albertans.”
“But lower gas prices don’t just leave more money in your pockets every time you fill up, so you and your families can save more of your hard-earned money,” Smith notes.
