UPDATE: The thunderstorm watches have all ended.

Environment Canada has issued severe thunderstorm watches for several forecast areas in the Peace Country.

That includes the Grande Prairie-Beaverlodge-Valleyview, Peace River-Fairview-High Prairie-Manning, Slave Lake and B.C. Peace River areas.

The weather office says thunderstorms are expected to develop across north-central Alberta Friday afternoon and that these storms could produce nickel-size hail and heavy rain.

The Whitecourt-Edson-Fox Creek-Swan Hills, City of Edmonton-St. Albert-Sherwood Park and Wabasca-Peerless Lake-Gift Lake-Cadotte Lake areas are also under severe thunderstorm watches.
