Serious injuries for one person after explosion, fire in Grande Prairie

The Grande Prairie Fire Department says one person was taken to hospital with serious injuries after an explosion and fire.

The call came in at around 6 a.m. Friday morning from a shop located in Grande Prairie’s west side.

Crews found the building on fire when they got there, and despite some difficulties in fighting the blaze, were able to contain the fire in one area of the building.

The cause of the explosion and fire is under investigation.
