NWP bursaries receive a significant boost from golf tournament proceeds

Over $60,000 was raised during this year’s NWP Northwestern Classic golf tournament.

Held in early June, the 34th edition of the event raised funds for the school’s Welcome First awards.

NWP president Justin Kohlman said in a news release “The money raised goes directly to our students so we can reduce barriers to increase the number of students who are able to succeed.”

Launched earlier this year, the Welcome First awards provide $2,000 to selected first-year domestic students who are registered in one of four eligible programs.

Those programs include Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Computing Science Degrees in Grande Prairie, or the Practical Nurse Diploma or Campus Health Care Aide Certificate programs in Fairview.

Organizers are now gearing up for the Fairview Classic, which will take place on August 25 at the Fairview Golf Club.
