Severe thunderstorm watches issued

UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm watches have been upgraded to warnings for the MD of Greenview near Valleyview, New Fish Creek, Sturgeon Lake, Fox Creek, and Grande Cache, along with Big Lakes County near High Prairie and Winagami Lake, the MD of Smoky River near Falher McLennan and Guy, and Northern Sunrise County near Peace River, Nampa and Three Creeks. A severe thunderstorm watch is also now in place for the Slave Lake forecast area.

Severe thunderstorm watches have been issued for the Grande Prairie-Beaverlodge-Valleyview, Peace River-Fairview-High Prairie-Manning, Hinton-Grande Cache, Whitecourt-Edson-Fox Creek-Swan Hills, and BC Peace forecast areas.

The weather office says conditions are favourable for the development of storms that can produce hail, rain and strong wind gusts.

The forecast says there is a chance of showers with a risk of thunderstorms into Tuesday.
