Severe thunderstorm watches, air quality statements in place

Severe thunderstorm watches have been issued for the Grande Prairie-Beaverlodge-Valleyview, Peace River-Fairview-High Prairie-Manning, Whitecourt-Edson-Fox Creek-Swan Hills, Slave Lake, and BC Peace forecast areas for a second straight day.

There is also a thunderstorm watch out for the Wabasca-Peerless Lake-Gift Lake-Cadotte Lake area.

Environment Canada says conditions are favorable for the development of storms that can produce hail and heavy rain.

A storm Monday night brought heavy rain and lightning to some areas of the Peace. Power in parts of Grande Prairie was out for over six hours.
