One person dead after crash on Resources Road

Preliminary investigation has revealed the dump truck and trailer travelling southbound on Resources Road swerved to avoid hitting a moose and a pickup truck travelling northbound was struck by the dump truck trailer, causing the pickup to swerve into the ditch and rolled onto its roof. The dump truck also ended up in the ditch following the collision.

The 40-year-old male driver of the pickup truck was pronounced deceased at the scene and thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

The driver of the dump truck was not physically injured.

RCMP Collision Reconstructionist attended the scene and Resources Road and Township Road 704A was re-opened as of 11:56 p.m. July 13.

Mounties are still investigating the cause of the tragic event.

Grande Prairie RCMP say emergency crews are on the scene of a fatal crash that happened on Resources Road south of the turn-off to the Dunes golf course.

Police say it involved a pick-up and a dump truck with a trailer.

The driver of the pickup died.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

There is no through traffic at Resources Road and Township Road 704A.
