Jul 25, 2023 | 3:16 PM

County of Grande Prairie Council met on Monday to discuss a number of items.

A tender has been awarded to Watt Consulting Group for the development of a regional transportation, operational, and funding plan. The nearly $75,000 job is being funded by the Alberta Community Partnerships grant and is an inter-municipal project managed by the County and City of Grande Prairie, and Towns of Wembley and Beaverlodge.

Council approved a one-year extension for the Recreation Services Agreement between the County and the Town of Wembley for over $107,000. The agreement expired at the end of 2022.

A $15,000 standard County Waterline Recovery Fee for all new connections on systems owned and operated by the county was also approved. This will affect those in the Hamlet of La Glace. Administration has been directed to provide more information at a future meeting to provide user categories to allow for payments from residents over 20 years on the waterline connection fee.

Three sponsorship requests were also approved by Council:

  • $2,500 sponsorship request from the Beaverlodge Blades Junior Hockey Club for the Beaverlodge Blades Hypnotist, Dinner and Dance event on September 1, 2023.
  • A $2,000 gold sponsorship for the Beaverlodge Firefighters Association’s Annual Fireman’s Ball on September 9, 2023, at the Beaverlodge Community Centre.
  • A $750 silver sponsorship for the Archie Harvey Memorial Golf Tournament on August 18, 2023. Councillor attendance at the event was also approved.

Council also decided to volunteer at the Hythe Legion on December 1 to cook a supper.
