Rain lowers wildfire hazards, lifts restrictions

Jul 28, 2023 | 6:00 AM

All the rain means the wildfire hazard is now low in both the Grande Prairie and Peace River Forest Areas.

Fire restrictions that were still in place for both have now been lifted.

The Grande Prairie area still has 10 wildfires. Two are being held and the rest are under control.

All the active fires in the Peace River Forest Area are also listed as being held or under control.

The High Level Forest Area has also had rain that lowered the fire hazard there to moderate.

A fire restriction has been replaced with a fire advisory.

The High Level area has 37 active fires, with eight of those considered out of control.
