Jul 31, 2023 | 2:58 PM

Bob Zimmerman, the Member of Parliament for Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies, has released a statement regarding the death of a 25-year-old Ontario Firefighter, who died fighting the Donnie Creek forest fire, near Fort St. John on Friday, July 28.

“I was saddened to hear of the loss of the 25-year-old wildfire fighter from Ontario as he was bravely battling the Donnie Creek Fire. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.

This is not only a devastating loss for northeastern B.C., but for the rest of Canada.

I want to thank all firefighters and first responders who have been fighting the Donnie Creek Fire, the largest in B.C. history, and the other ongoing wildfires across the province and country. We must always remember the sacrifices our frontline heroes make every day and never take life for granted.”
