MLA Dyck against electricity regulations 2035 net-zero date
Grande Prairie’s MLA is joining Premier Danielle Smith in rejecting the Federal Government’s new clean electricity regulations.
Nolan Dyck says the plan to reach a net-zero electricity grid by 2035 is not viable for Albertans.
He fears the demand could drive up housing costs and push young families away from cities like Grande Prairie.
“To see any person in the Peace region, in Grande Prairie have to consider whether or not they can afford to be here should never be a consideration,” Dyck says. “We have fantastic agriculture, we have fantastic energy, and we have fantastic forestry. We are an epi-centre of business and entrepreneurship and we want to make sure that things continue moving forward for us here in Grande Prairie.”
