County of Grande Prairie fire services responding to Chateh wildfire

The County of Grande Prairie is praising the efforts of its emergency service’s quick response to the wildfire that led to an evacuation order for Chateh.

The county says that within an hour of being contacted by the Alberta Emergency Management Agency, responders were on the road to assist with the blaze, bringing five firefighters, a chief officer, a structural protection specialist, a wildland-urban interface fire engine, and more.

They are working alongside fire services from all over the province to aid in fire suppression work and to monitor the Dene Tha’ community of Meander River.

The evacuation order was issued on the evening of September 22 due to the Basset Lake wildfire.
