Warkentin says current government resembles a “dumpster fire”

Grande Prairie-Mackenzie MP Chris Warkentin’s office recently issued a news release that referred to how the government is running things as a “dumpster fire.”

Warkentin says the Liberals were overspending before the pandemic hit.

“Even before COVID landed, we know that significant portions of the money that was spent, even during the time of COVID, or all of it, was deficit-financed. There were significant portions that had nothing to do with COVID or (that was) for the relief of Canadians.”

Warkentin says Prime Minster Justin Trudeau was warned then that deficit spending would lead to inflation and higher interest rates.

“The prime minister told Canadians not only that there wouldn’t be inflation, he warned that there was a possibility of deflation.”

“He also guaranteed Canadians we would be entering a time of very low-interest rates for a long period of time.”

Warkentin says his party is worried that things could get worse, given the actions of the government.

“We’re fighting for the government to immediately stop the out-of-control spending, the deficit spending, the borrowing of more money, and to reduce taxes, cut the carbon tax, axe the tax completely.”

Warkentin says the Conservatives will do all these things if they form the next government.
