UPDATE: Physician coverage found for Friday at Fairview Health Complex ED

UPDATE:

Alberta Health Services says the emergency department at the Fairview Health Complex will not be without a physician as long as first thought.

Coverage has been secured for between 7 a.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Saturday.

There will be no physician coverage until 7 a.m. Friday.

Nurses will still be there to provide assessments.

The Fairview Health Complex Emergency Department will be without an on-site physician for the next 48 hours.

Due to the inability to secure physician coverage, there will be no on-site physician coverage from 7:00 a.m. Thursday to 7:00 a.m. Saturday.

During this time the nursing staff will remain on-site to provide urgent triage, assessments, and potential referrals to emergency departments in neighboring communities.
