Fairview Health Complex ED closure

Alberta Health Services has announced a temporary disruption at the Fairview Health Complex Emergency Department.

Starting at 7 a.m. on Thursday, October 26, the ED will be without a doctor for 24 hours.

The public is still encouraged to call 911 in case of an emergency, as EMS will be re-routing calls to neighboring facilities.

Nursing staff will also remain on-site to perform urgent triage, assessments, and to refer patients to neighboring healthcare facilities.

AHS also reminds residents of services available through local pharmacies.

At this time, AHS says coverage could still be found, which would lead to the disruption being canceled.

AHS thanked residents in the release for their patience and said they are working to ensure locals have access to the care they need.

This marks the ninth time a Peace region ED has been without a doctor since September.
