Deficit for Grande Spirit Foundation discussed at council
Councillor Chris Thiessen told council during member reports at Monday’s meeting that rising costs have led to a deficit for the Grande Spirit Foundation.
Thiessen says the deficit was at $3.894 million dollars, something he called “the cost of doing business” adding “That’s how much things have gone up.”
He adds there have been several meetings held over the last few months “to find the right course of action to take.”
To cover this year’s deficit, Thiessen says the finance committee recommended the board to approve minimal rent increases and an increase in requisitions from municipalities. These were approved unanimously.
