RCMP find human remains inside vehicle at Widowmaker trailhead, west of Cochrane

RCMP are seeking public assistance after human remains were discovered inside a vehicle in Bow Valley Provincial Park.

Cochrane RCMP said it was about 10:25 a.m. on Nov. 3, 2023 when members responded a report of a suspicious vehicle located at the Widowmaker trailhead, about 65 km southwest of Cochrane.

Upon arrival, officers discovered human remains inside the vehicle. Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit was subsequently called in to investigate.

An autopsy is scheduled for Nov. 6 in Calgary.

RCMP are specifically asking for dashcam video from the area around Highway 1 and Highway 40, between Oct. 29 and Nov. 3, which may show smoke from the area around Widowmaker trailhead.
