Nearly $287,000 going to MD of Smoky River for senior transportation

The province announced on Thursday that they are investing $1.1 million into seniors living in rural Alberta who need accessible transportation.

Seniors in the MD of Smoky River will be benefitting from a grant of $286,933, going towards improving access to medical care, buying groceries, connecting with community and government services.

This is being done in partnership with Healthy Aging Alberta. The three-year project aims at having local community organizations and their partners deliver accessible and assisted transportation to older adults.

The investment hopes to expand the number of trips available, new routes for out-of-town services, and additional vehicles for existing programming.
