Storm win one on the road + more local hockey over the weekend

Grande Prairie Storm

The Grande Prairie Storm played three games on the road over the weekend.

On Friday, November 17 they were in Lloydminster to kick off a double-header. The Storm lost 5-4 to the Bobcats.

On Saturday, the Bobcats were also victorious, winning 4-2.

The Storm then travelled to Camrose for a match-up against the Kodiaks on Sunday and won 6-1.

Their next game is Wednesday, November 22, at Bonnetts Energy Centre hosting the Whitecourt Wolverines.

Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.

NWJHL

In the North West Junior Hockey League, six games were played over the weekend.

The Lumber Barons played three of six games this weekend, they travelled to the Crosslink County Sportsplex to take on the County of Grande Prairie Wheat Kings Friday night, and lost 3-2. They then ventured to Fort St. John on Saturday night and lost 3-2 to the Huskies. The La Crete boys wrapped up their weekend in Beaverlodge, where they won 6-1.

Other games from this weekend:

  • Fort St. John shutout the Blades at home on Friday night 4-0,
  • The Fairview Flyers beat the Dawson Creek Kodiaks at home 4-3 Saturday night,
  • The North Peace Navigators got a 3-2 road win against Beaverlodge.

NPHL

Over the weekend, five games were played in the North Peace Hockey League.

On Friday night:

  • The Dawson Creek Canucks blew past the Fort St. John Flyers 12-3,
  • The Manning Comets won 7-5 on the road against the Valleyview Jets.

On Saturday night:

  • The Grande Prairie Athletics beat the Manning Comets 5-4,
  • The Falher Pirates and Spirit River Rangers went to OT, the Rangers won 3-2,
  • The Canucks won at home against the Jets 8-2.
