Three-year sentence given in High Prairie manslaughter case
Alberta Justice says a Red Earth Creek woman charged after the 2021 death of a man at the Gift Lake Metis Settlement has been handed a jail sentence of just over three years.
Tara Rita Louise Auger was given a total of 1117 days at sentencing November 16 and 17 in High Prairie court.
She had originally been charged with second-degree murder after the May 19, 2021, death of 48-year-old Russell Lawrence Lamouche, but pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of manslaughter on May 8, 2023.
High Prairie RCMP said at the time that they were called to a disturbance at a Gift Lake home being caused by someone they described as βan intoxicated female.β
