The U13 Beaverlodge Blades girls won the gold medal in their division at the Wickenheiser Female World Hockey Festival over the weekend.

They beat a team from Calgary 3-0 in the final after finishing pool round play with a perfect 4-0 record.

The Northeast BC Predators U13 team also won gold in its division, beating a team from Saskatoon 3-2 in the final. The Predators were 3-0-1 after pool play.

This came after the U18 Predators won gold in their division at the same event the weekend before, beating a team from Edmonton 6-1 in the final.

The tournament, which included U 9, 11, 13, 15 and 18 sections, with subdivisions in most age groups, was played over two weekends at the Tsuut’ina Nation near Calgary.

The U11 Division had teams from Sexsmith and Dawson Creek take part.

A second team from Dawson Creek and one from Slave Lake were also on the U18 side.
