NWJHL & NPHL weekend recap

North West Junior Hockey League

There were nine games in the NWJHL over the weekend.

On Friday:

  • The La Crete Lumber Barons visited the Fairview Flyers, beating the host team 14-1.
  • The North Peace Navigators won at home to the Sexsmith Vipers 5-3.
  • The County Wheat Kings went to Dawson Creek and beat the Canucks 3-2.
  • Fort St. John Huskies travelled to Beaverlodge and won against the Blades 3-1.

There were two run-away shutout games on Saturday night:

  • The Huskies shut out Sexsmith on their own ice 9-0.
  • Beaverlodge hosted the Lumber Barons, and lost to La Crete 10-0.

The other two games of the night had the County Wheat Kings hosting the Flyers, the Wheat Kings won 10-3. The Kodiaks went to Peace River to take on the Navs, and Dawson Creek won 6-4.

The lone game on Sunday had La Crete visiting Dawson Creek. The Lumber Barons won 8-2 in their third game, and win of their weekend road-trip.

North Peace Hockey League

Four games were played in the regions Senior Men’s league this weekend.

Friday night had the Dawson Creek Canucks beat the host Manning Comets 6-4 and the Grande Prairie Athletics in Fort St. John beating the Flyers 7-2.

On Saturday:

  • The Comets shut out the Spirit River Rangers 3-0
  • The Valleyview Jets and Falher Pirates went into shootout, the Jets came out on top 6-5.
