Dec 11, 2023 | 3:28 PM

UPDATE:

The Fairview Health Complex Emergency Department will have physican coverage again, starting at 7 pm.

The closure was partially rescinded, thanks to AHS being able to secure coverage

Now until 7 p.m., nursing staff will remain on-site to perform urgent triage, assessments, and referrals to other neighboring facilities.

AHS also asks residents to contact 911 in case of an emergency, as EMS will be re-routing people to surrounding hospitals.

The Fairview Health Complex Emergency Department will be without an on-site physician, starting at 7 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, until 7 a.m. on Wednesday, December 13.

During the closure, patients are still asked to call 911 as EMS will be re-routing calls to neighboring healthcare facilities.

Nursing staff will also remain at the Fairview ED during the 24-hour closure, performing urgent triage, assessments, and referrals to neighboring hospitals.

At this time, the disruption could be canceled if AHS can secure coverage.

In the release, AHS said they are very grateful for the surrounding healthcare facilities’ support during this time, and thanked local residents for their patience and understanding.

This marks the second Peace region ED closed this week, after nine closures took place in October.
