Hockey, skiing in the weekend sports roundup

Storm

The Storm has a pair of home games this weekend.

Grande Prairie will host Okotoks at 6 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bonnetts Energy Centre in the last games before Christmas.

Grande Prairie is tenth in the AJHL standings with 34 points. The Oilers are fourth with 44 points.

NWJHL

In the Northwest Junior Hockey League Friday, Peace River in Sexsmith and Beaverlodge in Dawson Creek. Face-off at 8 p.m. for all these games.

Saturday, Dawson Creek in Sexsmith starts at 7 p.m. Fairview in Beaverlodge, Wheat Kings in La Crete and Fort St. John in Peace River all start at 8 p.m.

Sunday, Wheat Kings in La Crete starts at 1:30, Fairview in Dawson Creek gets going at 2 and Fort St. John in Peace River starts at 3.

Thursday night, the Wheat Kings won 4-3 at home over Beaverlodge.

NPHL

In the North Peace Hockey League Friday, Dawson Creek in Fort St. John.

Saturday, Falher in Valleyview and Spirit River in Dawson Creek.

All games start at 8:30.

Thursday night, Spirit River beat Grande Prairie at home 6-4.

Skiing

Nitehawk ski hill will be open from 5:30 to 9:30 Friday, 11 to 5 Saturday and Sunday.

The Tube Zone will be open from 5 to 7 and 7:30 to 9:30 Friday night, noon-2 and 2:30-4:30 Saturday and Sunday.

Whispering Pines will open for the season Saturday.

Lifts run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
