RCMP advise of poor driving conditions along QEll

Three Hills RCMP are advising of poor driving conditions in their detachment area, including Kneehill County and Red Deer County.

RCMP are responding to many collisions right now and are advising motorists to stay off the roads.

UPDATE: Dec. 15, 11:22 a.m.

RCMP advise that traffic is slowly moving in the northbound lanes of Highway 2, between Olds and Didsbury. Southbound lanes are still impassable.

Travel is not recommended.

UPDATE: Dec. 15, 10:25 a.m.

RCMP are advising motorists who are involved in the numerous collisions on the QE11 that there is now a towing advisory.

Tow trucks cannot come to the area so please do not call them.

Further updates are anticipated.

UPDATE: Dec. 15, 9:45 a.m.

RCMP are currently on scene at multiple collisions between Olds and Didsbury on the QE11.

Traffic CANNOT proceed through this area. Police say to please stay off the Highway.

UPDATE: Dec. 15, 9:40 a.m.

RCMP are advising that driving conditions on the QE11, from Airdrie to Red Deer, are very poor.

RCMP are tending to numerous collisions this morning. RCMP advise motorists to stay off the highway until conditions improve.

Innisfail RCMP are advising of poor road conditions on Highway 2 in the Innisfail area, for several kilometers in both directions.

Mounties say multiple vehicles have driven off the road and several trucks have slid and are blocking stretches of the Highway.

The public is asked to avoid traveling, as well as avoid the area, unless absolutely necessary.

Police say an update will be sent when more information becomes available.
