Labour Minister Christina Gray says Jason Kenney is wrong on immigration program

EDMONTON – Alberta Labour Minister Christina Gray says Opposition Leader Jason Kenney is wrong in suggesting that the province’s immigrant nominee program is tangled in delays.

Gray says processing times are quite speedy compared with what the N-D-P government inherited from the Progressive Conservatives in 2015.

Gray says people potentially waiting as long as two years are often seeing their applications processed within two months.

Kenney says a government run by his United Conservative Party would develop an immigration strategy to attract more entrepreneurs and focus on rural communities.

Kenney says Premier Rachel Notley’s N-D-P has failed to attract top talent from around the world and doesn’t focus on recruiting the best candidates.

Gray says the province is always looking to improve the immigrant nominee program but needs to be cautious about people potentially buying their way to the front of the line.
