Ducks claim defenceman Gustav Lindstrom off waivers from Canadiens

Jan 10, 2024 | 2:11 PM

ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Anaheim Ducks have claimed defenceman Gustav Lindstrom on waivers from the Montreal Canadiens, the NHL club announced Wednesday.

The 25-year-old Swede has three goals, an assist and six penalty minutes in 14 games this season.

He had been a healthy scratch for 12 straight games before Montreal put him on waivers Tuesday.

The Canadiens acquired Lindstrom in the off-season in a trade that sent veteran defenceman Jeff Petry to Detroit.

Lindstrom was selected by Detroit in the second round (38th overall) of the 2017 NHL draft and has five goals and 24 assists in 142 career NHL games with the Red Wings and Canadiens.

Lindstrom joins Anaheim two days after the Ducks dealt defenceman Jamie Drysdale to Philadelphia for forward prospect Cutter Gauthier.
