Province announces $42 million in CFEP grants

The province announced this week more than 270 recipients of $42 million worth of Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) grants.

CFEP dollars allow community groups to invest in facilities that support art, culture, heritage, sport and recreation.

“Investments in key spaces in our communities not only support new activities and programming but uplift residents and build stronger communities,” says Tanya Fir, Minister of Arts, Culture and Status of Women.

“Our government’s investment recognizes the critical role we can play in enhancing local community spaces where many Albertans come together, from hockey rinks and playgrounds to libraries and museums.”

There are 11 of these grants coming to the Peace Country. They include:

South Peace Regional Archives Society, Grande Prairie facility upgrade $328,455.00

Stepping Stones Day Care, Grande Prairie facility upgrade $53,320.00

Nitehawk Year-Round Adventure Park site redevelopment $71,161.00

Rycroft Agricultural Centre facility upgrade $70,000.00

Spirit River Centennial Hall equipment purchase $27,145.00

Cotillion Community Hall facility construction $125,000.00

Valleyview Riverside Golf Club facility upgrade $25,000.00

Ecole Routhier School, Falher playground redevelopment $125,000.00

Nampa Municipal Library facility upgrade $3325.00

High Prairie & District Museum facility upgrade $11,750.00

Sucker Creek Youth Centre facility upgrade $53,375.00

Budget 2023 committed $50 million to CFEP, so the remaining $8 million will roll over into next year, a ministry spokesperson says.

Applications are now open for the CFEP large funding stream, the deadline being June 15.

CFEP small funding stream deadlines are Jan. 15, May 15 and September 15.
