Curling from the weekend: Grande Prairie team wins world title, U15 qualifier at GPCC

Grande Prairie can boast a world champion curling team.

The team of Doug Small, Darlene Bathgate, Connie Anderson and Vernon Boyd ([pictured) won the mixed curling gold medal at the Winter World Master Games after beating the US in the final.

Hungary beat India in the bronze medal game.

The games were held in Italy from January 11 to 21, with the curling medals decided on the final day Sunday.

U15

The Kyra Doepker and Hayden Phillips rinks both from Grande Prairie have advanced to U15 curling provincials.

They clinched their spots over the weekend during a qualifier in Grande Prairie.

Provincials will go from February 27 to March 3 in Lacombe.
