Sturmay dethrones Skrlik as provincial champs

The Selena Sturmay-led rink defeated Skrlik in ten ends at the Women’s Curling Provincials, 6-5, dethroning the reigning champs.

The Skrlik rink finished the tournament with a 5-3 record.

Kayla Skrlik’s team beat Serena Gray-Withers 9-8 in an extra end in the semi-final earlier today.

The Skrilik sister’s now plays Selena Sturmay in the final at 3 p.m.

At the Women’s Curling Provincials in St. Paul, Nampa-raised skip Kayla Skrlik’s team is currently sitting at third, after six draws.

Earlier today, (Saturday, January 27) Skrlik’s rink fell to Serena Gray-Wither’s Edmonton-based squad in nine ends, 9-5.

Kayla and team lead, her sister Ashton, will now turn their attention to Jessie Hunkin’s rink, when they face each other at 6:30 p.m. for draw seven.
