UPDATE: Grande Prairie RCMP respond to fatal on Highway 40

UPDATE:

Grande Prairie RCMP, Collision Analyst, and emergency crews have cleared the area and traffic flow has resumed.

After their investigation, Mounties believe that at 7:10 a.m. north of the Canfor Haul Road, a northbound Dodge Dakota crossed the centre line into the southbound lane, where a Chevrolet Silverado was travelling.

After hitting the Dakato, the Silverado went into the ditch and collided with another truck, a Ford F550, which had entered the ditch to avoid the collision.

The lone occupant of this Silverado was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other drivers suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Grande Prairie RCMP and Collison Analyst are currently on the scene of an accident, resulting in a fatality on Highway 40.

South of Grande Prairie, near the Canfor Cut Across, three vehicles collided on Highway 40.

At this time drivers are asked to find an alternate route, and expect delays for most of the day.

An update will be provided to the public when we receive more information.
