The Northwestern Alberta Foundation is pleased with the funds raised in 2023 to support communities effected by emergencies.
The Northwestern Alberta Emergency Recovery Fund was enacted in response to the May 2023 wildfires. It raised over $360,000 dollars to help local communities recover and build resiliency.
The fund was established in 2022 in partnership between the foundation and the Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership to collect monetary donations in times of crisis.
The funds raised will be allocated between five municipalities and four Indigenous communities, with money also being channelled to support the Northwest Territories.
