Extreme cold expected to warm up Tuesday

Environment Canada issued an Extreme Cold Warning for the Grande Prairie – Beaverlodge – Valleyview and Peace River – Fairview – High Prairie – Manning forecast areas this morning.

Extremely cold wind chills in these areas are near -40 today.

The weather office says the cold should let up in the afternoon but may return tonight in some regions, along with snowfall in the Grande Prairie area.

Temperatures are expected to moderate substantially on Tuesday and further into the week.

Environment Canada reminds people that cold weather affects everyone, as well as their pets. They suggest dressing in layers with a wind resistant layers on the outer layer and if it’s too cold for you to be outside, it’s too cold for fido.
