Curling from the weekend

U20 provincials

The Kenan Wipf team from Edmonton beat the Timothy Marin team from Sherwood Park 8-3 in the U20 Alberta men’s curling final Sunday in Drayton Valley.

Team Marin includes Sexsmith’s Jaxon Hiebert.

Grande Prairie’s Adam Elsenheimer and his team finished with a record of 5-3, tied with three other teams, and were eliminated on tiebreakers.

Club qualifiers

The team from the Peace River Curling Club beat the team from the Grande Prairie Curling Centre in the women’s provincial club championship qualifier over the weekend in Peace River.

The scores were 6-3 and 6-5 on Saturday, 9-1 on Sunday.

A team from Peace River also beat a team from Fort St. John in both games on the men’s side. The scores were 7-4 and 8-1. Both games were played on Saturday.

Airdrie will host the Curling Alberta Club Championship April 2 to 7.

Wheelchair Curling World Championship

Canada lost 6-2 to Norway in the final of the World Wheelchair Curling Championship played in South Korea.

Ina Forrest, originally from Fort St. John, is part of Team Canada.

China beat Sweden 6-3 in the bronze medal game.
