Slave Lake Forest Area Wildfire danger rating at moderate

The Slave Lake Forest Area wildfire rating has climbed to the Moderate level.

Due to strong gusty winds Thursday and Friday, firefighters are urging everyone in the area to use caution when working or recreating in the outdoors, as areas of dead grass will ignite easily and can spread quickly.

Above seasonal temperatures are expected to continue into the weekend with forecasts calling for wind from the west gusting up to 50-70 kilometres per hour until late Friday afternoon.

Anyone who sees a wildfire is asked to report it immediately by calling 310-FIRE.

Alberta Wildfire is reminding anyone that conducted a burn in the wintertime to go back and ensure the fires are completely extinguished as embers cam result in holdover fires around this time of year.
