The City and County of Grande Prairie are inviting residents to celebrate Earth Day on Saturday, April 20.

To celebrate our earth, multiple activities are planned to take place at Teresa Sargent Hall inside the Montrose Cultural Centre, from noon to 4 p.m.

Those activities include:

  • GP Grows seed bar, with a variety of 13 different seeds.
  • A showcase of electric vehicles called “Electric Avenue.”
  • Presentation on bee-friendly plants and how to identify noxious weeds; With an opportunity for residents to interact with a live bee hive.

Mayor Jackie Clayton said in the release that Earth Day is a time to recognize the importance of environmental stewardship, as “this event serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting our planet through eco-friendly practices and reducing waste, ensuring a healthier and greener future for generations to come.”

Throughout Saturday, April 20, free transit will be offered City-wide, to “promote environmentally friendly transportation.”
