County of Grande Prairie fire crews contain wildland fire

County of Grande Prairie Fire Crews have contained a wildland fire they had been battling in the Elmworth area, near Township Road 700 between Range Road 112 and 113.

The road was closed earlier but has since re-opened to traffic.

Fire crews will remain on the scene overnight to monitor the situation, and will work with Alberta Wildfire to fully extinguish the hotspots over the next few days.

At this time, no injuries have been reported, and fire crews are crediting the blaze to a holdover fire that reignited due to the windy conditions today.
