Highway 2 closed near Slave Lake due to wildfire

Slave Lake RCMP are on the scene of a rapidly progressing wildfire near Canyon Creek.

Mounties say Highway 2, between Seppola Drive/RR 80 and Centre Avenue, though a larger stretch of highway may be closed as the fire progresses.

Visibility on Highway 2 has been greatly reduced due to wildfire smoke.

The public is asked to avoid travel in the area (between Slave Lake and Kinuso) as the situation unfolds.
