Wildfire danger rating for Slave Lake Forest Area now very high.

The wildfire danger rating for the Slave Lake Forest Area has climbed to very high.

According to the Fire Weather Index, very high is the second highest rating, directly below extreme.

Firefighters are urging everyone in the area to use caution when working or recreating in the outdoors, and to report any wildfire they see by calling 310-fire.

Since April 18, a fire restriction has been in place, with two tickets being issued over the weekend of $600 each, one for burning without a permit, and the other for having a campfire in an undesignated area.
