AFSC releases first crop report of 2024

The first crop report of 2024 from AFSC, dated May 7, says just over 18 per cent of the crop had been seeded in the Peace by that date.

The breakdown by crop is 24 per cent for spring wheat, just over 20 per cent for dry peas, just under 17 per cent for canola, around 13 per cent for barley and just under 10 per cent for oats

Around 42 per cent of soil moisture is rated good, with another 42 per cent fair, just under 11 per cent is poor and 5 per cent excellent.

Just over 58 per cent of pasture growth is rated fair, with 27 per cent poor and 14.6 per cent good.
