According to a recent online survey done by Leger, the majority of Canadians are in support of giving farmers a break when it comes to carbon taxes.
The poll that was done from May 17-19 found that from 1,591 responses, 70 per cent are in favour of a carbon tax exemption for farmers on propane and natural gas. Only seven per cent of respondents are strongly opposed to the idea.
Of Alberta respondents, 76 per cent are in favour of giving farmers a break on the tax.
Canadian farmers will pay around $1 billion by 2030 through the carbon tax on these farm fuels used to dry grain and heat barns, if no relief is given.
