More than 86 per cent of the Peace Region crop seeded says Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation

The latest Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation crop report, dated May 28, says 86.2 per cent of major crops had been seeded in the Peace, ahead of the five year average and provincial average.

Showers and 20+ degree days have helped accelerate seeding progress and the emergence of crops.

Sub-surface soil moisture was rated as four per cent poor, 32 per cent fair, 55 per cent good and 9 per cent excellent, with zero per cent excessive.

Pasture and hay growth is also on track for a good growing season, with 49 per cent good and 43 per cent fair.
